Sugoi Hebereke is a competitive multiplayer arena fighter and a spin-off of the typically more puzzle-centric Hebereke series. Hebereke and his pals take to many distinct arenas to fight each other. Upon being beaten, the character changes into one of the "Popoons" of Hebereke's Popoon (a Puyo Puyo-like puzzle game).
Each arena is shown from a top-down perspective and has a mixture of native hurdles and objects that are taken into the arena by miniature "helper" characters. These items can make a character more powerful, regain their health or even sabotage them.
Sugoi Hebereke features Hebereke (penguin), Oh-Chan (girl in cat suit), Sukezaemon (ghost with sunglasses), Jennifer (big-lipped frog), Boo (purple bird), Utsu (alien in cat suit), Pen (boy in penguin suit) and Unyo (alien with helmet). Each has their own range of basic attacks.
