Sensible Soccer brings the computer classic to mobile phones. The gameplay continues the series' tradition: fast-paced soccer matches from the top-down perspective. Besides a dedicated button for passing, shots are produced by kicking the ball in the air and then pressing the correct buttons for directions (similar to moving a joystick in a direction). Additional moves available are slide tackles and diving headers. When not in ball possession, the nearest athlete is selected automatically.
The game modes also follow the example of the originals: there are friendlies, cup and challenges. The latter two can be customized to a point, including which of the 50 national teams (no original names) participate. Additionally there is a challenge mode which sets the player in pre-set match conditions.
Cell phones with higher technical specifications receive a few additional features: besides an intro video and replays, they have some limited tactical options: nine formations and substitutions during a match.
