Salamander 2 is the follow up to Salamander. Like it's predecessor, this shoot-em-up contains both horizontal and vertical scrolling levels, with each level ending with a powerful guardian. There are six levels in total and once they are beaten the player is then challenged with beating them again but this time at a higher difficulty.. Destroying certain enemies will release power ups which can be used to equip your ship with more powerful weapons, extra speed, and shields, These power ups are used automatically and do not have to be individually selected as they are in a typical Gradius game.
