Rockman 7, more colloquially known as Rockman 7 FamiCom, is an unofficial, loose remake of the Rockman 7 for the Super Famicom. The remake was created due to some fans' dissatisfaction with the original Rockman 7's updated art style leading to gameplay that felt slower and clunkier compared to the series's previous installments. Its ultimate objective was to create a version of Rockman 7 that could be played on an actual Famicom, and this led to several features in the original Rockman 7 being cut, including the intro stage, the Robot Museum after defeating four Robot Masters, the shop, and the Rush Search utility. The player is also able to select any of the game's eight Robot Masters from the beginning.
Players control Rockman through a set of nine worlds, each with their own themes and end boss. The included bosses are Spring Man, Freeze Man, Slash Man, Cloud Man, Junk Man, Turbo Man, Burst Man, Shade Man and, of course, Dr. Wily. Game mechanics are true to the series, with jumping, sliding, shooting, and charging for more powerful shots. Players can call the robotic dog Rush Coil to jump to higher areas. Level progression is stored through passwords.
