Ochaken no Heya DS 2 is the second 3D entry in the virtual pet series based on Sega Toys's popular Ochaken toy line, which features cute dogs and cats with tea leaves for ears. Players are given free reign to decorate a room and make it as comfortable as possible for their pet tea dogs and tea cats. Players can create their own dog and cat pets using the detailed character creator, and share their pets with other players using a passcode. Pets can also be imported from the GBA games Ochaken no Yume Bouken and Ochaken no Boukenjima: Honwaka Yume no Island using their password systems.

Players can earn clothes, items, and in-game money by playing its 36 builtin minigames; this includes the 18 minigames from Ochaken no Heya DS and 18 new games.
