After being banished for many centuries, Nightmare Moon has returned to Ponyville to spread eternal night! It is up to Twilight Sparkle and her friends to stop Nightmare Moon and bring light and friendship back to Ponyville.

In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the player will rebuild Ponyville from scratch while playing various minigames and meeting well known characters from the TV show. Playing minigames will allow ponies to gain experience and get access to more rewarding minigames. The player may hire ponies to work in newly built shops, which generate resources. The resources are used for building other shops, bringing more ponies to Ponyville, or completing tasks given by the main characters.
