Mayday is a 1-player Lunar Rescue game for the BBC Micro.

While cruising around the solar system in their battleship, the player receives a distress call from the Mars base. The population has been ravaged by plague, and they desperately need extra medical supplies.

The player's mission is to launch from their mothership as it moves laterally across the top of the screen. The player must land on one of the two yellow landing pads, while avoiding asteroids that move horizontally across the screen. The player's landing craft moves left and right, and can engage thrusters to slow its descent to the surface.

After unloading the lander, the player must then head to the awaiting mothership once again. During the ascent the player must avoid horizontally moving alien vessels that drop bombs towards the surface. These can be shot by the player's craft. The player starts with three lives, and each successful return to the mothership changes the ground to a more difficult terrain.
