This is the first Shin Taintei Series based off of works of Kyōtarō Nishimura. This murder mystery adventure game puts the player in a role of Isshin Arata, a regular working guy who decided to follow the steps of his late father and become a private investigator. The game is split into three chapters, one for each of the cases which will require of the player to rely on gathering clues, questioning suspects, reasoning and deduction in order to come to a conclusion. Main part of each case is a visual novel presentation which consists of three playable sections. After the prologue, and occurrence of an event that prompts for an investigation of a case at hand, the player is at first starting the investigation by inspecting the scene of the crime and gathering information from the witnesses. Upon gathering the necessary information and clues, player can start the reasoning mode. Finally, the player has to prove who the criminal is and showing clues and motive behind the crime. In the end, epilogue finalizes the chapter case. Bonus part is more of a quiz challenge. The player can select one of the cases which consists of reading the story in plain textual representation after which the player has to correctly answer the question by using inference. The memo page with a map area is available to let the player draw paths and draw conclusions about the events that have transpired which may aid the player in answering the question.
